The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm.
